Current Managment Problem

Bring the president of a student organization on campus, I encounter numerous management problems which arise from overseeing and leading a team of people. I have five members of the executive board which report directly to me. The major problem which I face is to continuously keep these people motivated. When we are in a meeting setting, everyone is happy to take on responsibilities and guarantee results. After the meeting is over, people lose their motivation and it is my responsibility to change that. I follow up on the tasks we discuss at the meetings, and remind my team of the goal we are working towards to help with this problem of motivation.

  1. It can get pretty hectic for you being the president. My friend is also a president of a club and he tells me how hard it is to manage everything. At least you have a team of people to help you with any situations that will arise.
    Good luck with your organization.

  2. Hey
Being the president of an organization can be pretty tough because you hold the heart of the organization. Dont be discouraged by your executive board just tell them how you feel and how by them not taking charge of all their responsibilities is very stressfuland unfair for you. Im sure it will strengthen the organization and encourage them to work harder. I too hold a position as treasurer of an organization and our president has had that kind of talk with us and it kinda gave us that push we needed to work harder. Hope this can help.

  3. I kind of agree with Kristen here. I am part of a club at the school and have seen three different presidents face the same situation. The best thing to do would be reminding them by phone/e-mail from time to time to see how things are going. Ask them about the progress they are making well before the date the task is to be completed. You have to be very assertive but at the same time try not to sound forceful or arrogant which might give them a bad opinion about you or the organization as a whole. Keep reminding them that they took on their position because the people who voted for them and also hem themselves believed that they had the potential to be successful in this position and by not honoring their obligations they are letting the people who believed in them down and they are also letting themselves down. Also remind them just how great your organization can be as a tool for personal growth if everyone does what they are suppose to.

  5. This may be the best experience you'll ever have in your life. Having to deal with these situations as a student will allow you to develop the crucial skills needed to succeed in the business world. And as you explained, directing the other members of the club is difficult, however, you will develop into a leader by dealing with these issues and succeeding as the club president.
